Sidney Scott, his sister Hattie Lou (Scott) King, and his brother-in-law and sick room companion, Algie King were among those African American that relocated to Fort Walton Beach (FWB) in the early 1940’s. He and his sister Hattie were born in Union Springs, AL, to the late McKinley Anderson and Jimmie Bethune. He and his family members were active members in the Mid-town area of FWB and for many years lived in the family home at the corner of Hollywood Blvd and Carson Drive before relocating in the early 1960’s.

Sidney was always a member of Beulah Missionary Baptist Church where he served faithfully until until health problems took him away. He was among those foundering members to attend and watched the Beulah grow and become to strong African American church in the Mid-town area of FWB that is it today. He loved singing and was a member of both the Senior Choir and Male Chorus.

On May 9, 1947, his sister Hattie Lou was the First Vice Daughter Ruler charter member who organized Booker T. Washington Temple 862.
